The White Shirt According to Me. Gianfranco Ferré

The exhibition The White Shirt According to Me. Gianfranco Ferré and the accompanying catalogue published by Skira, with artistic direction by Luca Stoppini, are the result of a collaboration between the Fondazione Museo del Tessuto in Prato and the Gianfranco Ferré Foundation. Conceived to highlight the designer’s creative talent and design approach, both exhibition and catalogue offer multiple perspectives for analysing and interpreting Ferré’s white shirt – a constant presence running like a fil rouge throughout his career, described by Ferré as the “signature of my style” or the “contemporary lexicon of elegance”.

In perfect harmony with the exhibition concept, the Skira volume presents a rich and multifaceted content that focuses on enhancing the white shirt and revealing Ferré’s design methodology as applied to this iconic garment, emphasising its most innovative construction elements and its endless, captivating interpretations.

The catalogue includes contributions and essays by leading figures in Italian style, fashion and architecture; a photographic sequence by Luca Stoppini; a series of x-ray simulations by Leonardo Salvini – the result of technical research developed in collaboration with the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence; original drawings and sketches by Gianfranco Ferré; and runway photographs. An integral part of the volume is the set of 27 analytical entries curated by Daniela Degli Innocenti.
