Questione di Pelle

Questione di Pelle (A Matter of Leather) is the title of the exhibition held at Spazio Lineapelle, the new exhibition space during Milan Fashion Week, and in conjunction with Lineapelle, the most important international event in the sector. The event showcases unique pieces created by Gianfranco Ferré and creations by well-known contemporary designers. The absolute star of the show: leather.
The exhibition aims to communicate how leather production can be carried out in total harmony with the environment, thanks to the sensitivity and know-how of most Italian companies, which have become a global example of sustainability and the circular economy. Few people know that the leather used in fashion is a waste product of the food industry, otherwise destined for landfill or incineration, and it is precisely from this waste that a commodity considered precious for Made in Italy is born, transformed into a material with high added value. The exhibition is therefore also an opportunity to increase knowledge and awareness of the artisanal and innovative value of this material, communicating its many uses, from fashion to automotive, from design to furniture.
“Whether by fortunate chance or perhaps due to a conviction that had already taken root but not yet been declared, I chose leather as the preferred material for my inventions and creations, starting with my very first accessories and jewellery. It is a passion that I have never betrayed and has turned into loyalty to a material with a strong personality and a thousand souls: soft like fabric and ductile like knitwear, or resistant, robust, handsome, capable of adapting to the body and caressing it like a real second skin, while protecting, warming and supporting it".
