Italiana. Italy Through the Lens of Fashion 1971-2001 is a project in the form of an exhibition and a book, conceived and curated by Maria Luisa Frisa and Stefano Tonchi. It celebrates and narrates Italian fashion during a seminal period, highlighting the gradual consolidation and affirmation of the Italian fashion system during the grand season of Made in Italy. This is an extraordinary era of cultural creativity that cements relationships and exchanges among generations of Italian artists, architects, designers, and intellectuals who shape the trajectory of Italy’s presence in international culture. The exhibition also celebrates the important anniversary of the sixty years of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
The narrative of Italiana unfolds through concepts and visions within a sophisticated design landscape. It forms an imaginative yet rigorous creative kaleidoscope, where objects, styles, and atmospheres that define Italian culture converse with the protagonists and key figures who together compose the collective fresco of Italian fashion.
