The Gianfranco Ferré Foundation takes part in the exhibition “Cachemire. Il segno in movimento”, organised by the Antonio Ratti Foundation from 18 June to 18 September 2016 across two venues: Villa Sucota in Como and Villa Bernasconi in Cernobbio.
concept

The exhibition Cachemire. Il segno in movimento (Cachemire. Sign in movement) is dedicated to the paisley motif, a contemporary classic found in the historical archives of numerous textile manufacturers in the Como district. It stands as a true testing ground for the skills of every actor in the textile supply chain – from designers to artisans – whose expertise enables the local industry to assert itself on the international stage.

Through approximately 150 pieces on display – including fabrics, shawls, garments, accessories and ties – the exhibition leads visitors on a journey through the evolution and interpretation of the motif across different eras and cultures.

Its chronological and thematic itinerary highlights ancient textiles from FAR’s collections alongside modern pieces supplied by companies of the Lake Como area, which, drawing on their historical archives, reinterpret this age-old and evocative motif in countless variations, continually renewing it.
