Brilliant!<br>The Futures of Italian Jewellery
The Gianfranco Ferré Foundation takes part in the exhibition “Brilliant! The Futures of Italian Jewellery”, held during the XXI International Triennale Exhibition from April 2 to September 12, 2016. The exhibition aims to restore Italian jewellery to its rightful place among the arts, highlighting both its manufacturing heritage and technological innovation, as well as the paradigms of tradition and the possibilities of the future.
concept

The exhibition seeks to highlight the pluralism of Italian jewellery in terms of language, experimentation, and research, spanning fine jewellery to new wearable and interactive technologies. The fragmentation of the present opens glimpses into the future, in an intersection of contexts and realms of remarkable allure.

The fifty selected pieces stand as emblematic visions of the future trajectories of Italian jewellery. Centre stage is taken by the collier, the jewel that most epitomises the tradition of Italian goldsmithing.

This exhibition marks the return of jewellery to the International Triennale and the restoration of its artistic dignity. Its presence at the XXI International Triennale attests to its enduring vitality, re-establishes a dialogue with the arts, reclaims artistic stature, and demonstrates Italian excellence in creativity and craftsmanship. It underscores the formal, disciplinary, and typological variety of contemporary Italian jewellery and represents the Italian system on the global stage.
