Accadde Oggi:
Happy Birthday
Made in Italy!
Chiesa Museo di San Carlo / Modena
Modenamoremio
It is February 12, 1951, when Giovanni Battista Giorgini organises in Florence a fashion show that changes the fate of Italian fashion forever, launching what would later become “Made in Italy.” From that day seventy years ago, Italy dresses the world – from Hollywood stars to leading international figures – creating a global style revolution that transforms the history of the country once and for all. The exhibition recounts the extraordinary phenomenon of “Made in Italy” through the display of iconic creations, true works of art that embody the distinctive excellence of Italian craftsmanship.
The exhibition unfolds through rarely seen creations from major historical archives and contemporary collections, showcasing techniques that have shaped the most important chapters in the history of international fashion and that are still carried out today with exceptional mastery, supported by new technologies. Pleating, embroidery, razor-sharp pintucks, hand-painted textiles, and many other sartorial techniques also take centre stage. On view are the sartorial marvels of the most important Italian fashion houses.
