Prêt-à-porter Uomo
Spring/Summer

“Travelling is a natural attitude. One moves through spaces that seem infinite. Then one arrives and lets go. The desire for exploration gives way to the pleasure of rediscovered horizons. Because at times, even when reaching a place never visited before, there is a clear sensation of returning to one’s roots. This collection, too, speaks of discovery, evolution and research. Evolution of form and research into unprecedented configurations, rounded yet impeccably constructed, in keeping with a code intrinsic to my way of ‘feeling’ masculine style. Because to discover often means to rediscover, to recover signs and certainties that are essential”.

Gianfranco Ferré

2008

This journey of rediscovery is told above all through colour, in its always slightly alchemical relationship with materials. Blue – or rather, nautical blues, the blues of hulls – shimmering, refractive, technological. They draw on silks with iridescent reflections, chintzed, water-repellent, weather-treated. Or on laminated cotton.

The tones of ripe prickly pear and jasmine, of pistachio and lemon sorbets, evoke the exuberance of a village festival. These, too, are modulated by silk in its many expressions: raw silk, shantung, tussah, bourette.

The volcanic black of sand and stone surprises with sudden glints. It is combined with linen, voile and bamboo, almost weightless. And in an almost total absence of reality, almost free of external demands, it becomes easy – even inevitable – to surrender to relaxation. Or rather, to true otium.
