Spring/Summer

“My men’s style – which I like to define with the formula ‘Homme Couture’ – can be read as an evolutionary process attentive to what is worn, but above all to how and why it is worn. I believe in an evolution that takes place constantly through small yet significant shifts. A calm, conscious revolution, carried out with the mind so that it becomes a project of elegance, but also with the heart and with all five senses, so that it can generate emotion. The new collection is born precisely from this perspective. With unchanged respect for a lexicon that speaks of rigour, freedom and precision, of a declared love for timeless materials and an alchemical pleasure in experimentation”.

It is above all material choices and construction that create this added value of quality: wools are always extra-fine and ultra-light; Sea Island cotton is double-twisted, couture satin, tricotine and double gabardine; laser-cut nappa overlaps linen in three-dimensional effects; nabuk is washed and doubled with denim; natural crocodile is washed, raw-cut and paired with canvas; kangaroo leather is lightened and inlaid with silk knit, or waxed and treated to be water-resistant; ‘rush’ calfskin is raw-cut with contrast lacquered edges; shot silk organza in evening jackets is laid over a silk canvas; the same organza covers the washed and distressed denim of the jeans.

Prêt-à-porter Uomo
Fall/Winter

“Alchemy, research, invention. These are values that have always characterised my style, without ever slipping into gratuitous experimentation. The horizons within which uniqueness and quality can take shape are those defined by precise aesthetic codes and by well-established logics of elegance. I like to imagine and describe the man of the new collection as a sort of modern alchemist: curious and perhaps even eccentric, yet always aware and attentive. Starting from what may be defined as customary and familiar, this alchemist makes his own the quiet yet disruptive force of normality, arriving effortlessly at what is new, non-obvious and original. Because he knows how – and wants – to seek”.

Gianfranco Ferré

2007

The Ferré man of this collection.

He seeks accuracy of construction, opting for unexpected, almost surprising solutions. He chooses, for example, a coat that appears absolutely classic, yet whose volume is defined by a single seam.

He seeks impeccability of form, while allowing himself more comfortable and generous proportions.

He seeks the true excellence of materials, the uniqueness of their quality, renouncing any mystification or unnecessary elaboration.

He seeks the solidity of colour, favouring the densest and most intense tones.

Materials. The most ordinary and the most exceptional. Timeless, never obvious. Super-combed wools and ultra-compact cottons. Polished cashmeres and waterproof silks. Crocodile and sable. Aerated, puffed buffalo leather; laser-cut nappa with a scale effect.

Colours. The darkest and deepest, darker even than black. Unequivocally winter tones. Blue, anthracite grey, burgundy, and a “virtual” brown born from a truly alchemical interweaving of yarns, each in a different shade.
