“D'Artista” shirt. Two-layer taffeta shirt with front opening, organza lining. Three-piece circular cut, with two box pleats on the front and back. Gathered sleeves with six shape-defining pleats at armfolds, exquisitely long and narrow twin-button cuffs with mechanical embroidery edging. An intermediate straight cut taffeta layer for major structural support. Lace trim on collar, cuffs, and organza lining. This design enfolds specific features of late-19th-century fashion. In particular, the close-fitting collar and cuffs, along with the lovely decorative elements, evoke women’s dresses from that period, while the rich volumes of the sleeves spark images of jackets from the 1890s.
